Mechanism of Action

Mechanism of action

Ciprofloxacin is an antibiotic belonging to the fluoroquinolones group.

Its bactericidal activity results from inhibition of type II topo-isomerase (DNA-gyrase) and topo-isomerase Intravenous, necessary for replication, transcription, repair and recombination of bacterial DNA (deoxyribonucleic acid).

Critical concentrations separate the sensitive strains of intermediate susceptibility strains, and these strains, from the resistant ones: enterobacteria: S 1 mg/l, Pseudomonas: S 1 mg/l, Acinetobacter: S 1 mg/l, Spercneros: S 1 mg/l, Hæmophylus influentizæ and Moraxppsella scarrhalis: S 0.5 mg/l, Spercneros: S <= 1 mg/l, Spercneros: Sper: Sper.
