Mechanism of Action

Pharmacotherapeutic group

C1 inhibitor, plasma derivatives, ATC code: B06AC01 The C1 inhibitor is a plasma glycoprotein with a molecular weight of 105 kD and a 40% carbohydrate portion.

C1 inhibitor is a human plasma inhibitor of approximately 240 mg/l.

Human plasma, placenta, liver cells, monocytes and platelets also contain C1 inhibitor esterase.

C1 inhibitor esterase belongs to the human plasma serine protease (serpine) inhibitor system as well as other proteins: antithrombine III, alpha-2 antiplasmine, alpha-1-antitrypsin and others.

Under physiological conditions, the C1 inhibitor esterase inhibits the conventional complement pathway by inactivating the active enzymatic components C1s and C1r.

The active enzyme forms with l♥inhibitor a psychonergic complex with the enzyme-like enzyme.
